Baltimore Entertainment

The entertainment value of Baltimore is obvious as soon as you hit town. Every place looks worth a visit. Your first view of the Inner Harbor will perk you up, and you'll start noticing all sorts of things that will attract your attention. Its almost hard to believe anybody gets any work done around here.

Music
There are summer Music Festivals and other events.

For classical music, of course, theres always the Baltimore Symphony and recitals, opera, and new work at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. In the summer, the Symphony performs outdoors, in case your tuxedo needs airing.

Live music on a smaller scale is easy to find in bars and restaurants around town, or on summer nights by the Harbor.
For classic alternative rock (all right, there is no such thing), the most famous room around is Bohagers, in Fells Point. If thats too crowded, or you want another band, just walk through Fells Point until you find what you want; its there somewhere, in one of the many bars along the cobblestones. Theres plenty of Irish music and other folk types around, if you want something lively but not as loud.

Atmosphere
If you want to re-live classic moments from your youth, or from your fantasy of youth, try coffee and pie at a booth in the Hollywood Diner. This downtown eatery was the main location for Baltimore-born film director Barry Levinsons coming-of-age film classic. Diner. It was also featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle, and was a frequent location for the dramatic TV series "Homicide."

Batter Up!
For sports, theres everything, from biking to hiking to trips around the harbor on a boat. Theres baseball at the downtown Camden Yards, and other major sports events. Theres golf throughout the state.

Night and Day
Take a tour. Hang out at the Aquarium or stroll around the Inner Harbor. Have a cup of coffee. Go dancing.
