The Cartwright is a first-class, intimate boutique hotel located at Sutter and Powell Streets, in Union Square on the Cable Car Line, central to dining and shopping, two blocks from the Theater District and four blocks from the Financial District. Its guestrooms are small, but charming and feature 19th Century antique furnishings. Each has been recently redone with new wallpaper, carpet, bedspreads, and window dressings.
The hotel proudly combines old world charm with modern amenities. The gracious, comfortable lobby is decorated with American and European antiques, Oriental rugs, and sumptuously upholstered couches and armchairs. Relax and read in the quaint elegance of the hotel's Library room. Fresh French roast coffee and tea is served complimentary each morning in the Library, and tea and butter cookies are served in the afternoon. Each evening, a Manager's Wine Reception is served from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Nonsmoking rooms are available upon request.
